Heart for Art

Heart for Art

Heart for Art is a Church of Scotland ‘Crossreach’ initiative to promote creativity, self worth and achievement among people with dementia, while providing friendship and support for their carers.

Dementia? Life hasn’t ended. Life continues to have meaning. Whether or not there is cognitive decline, we believe a person who has been given a diagnosis of dementia:

  • Can have hope
  • Can have a quality of Life
  • Can have the ability to learn
  • Can have a life worth living

When there are no words, the process of creating art enables the visible communication of thoughts and feelings.  Our Heart for Art classes have shown that these thoughts and feelings can translate into astounding pieces of art, often charged with emotion and visibly filled with love, fear, compassion and so much more.

Heart for Art meets in the Queen Street East building, 370 Queen Street, DD5 2HQ
on alternate Wednesdays from 1.30 to 3.30pm
